One of Australia's brightest winemaking talents, Adam Wadewitz joined Shaw + Smith as Senior Winemaker in 2013. Wadewitz's attention to detail and pursuit of quality have seen the Shaw + Smith wines evolve to new heights under his direction. He has also overseen significant changes in farming practices including the move to organic practices and certification.
A University of Adelaide Oenology graduate, Wadewitz has an enviable CV – having worked vintages across the world, including stints in the Napa Valley and Jura, Eastern France.
Prior to starting with Shaw + Smith, Wadewitz worked in Great Western from 2006 – 2012, his time at Best’s saw him take home the coveted Jimmy Watson trophy for Best’s Bin 1 Shiraz, before returning to his home state of South Australia.
A former Dux of the prestigious Len Evans Tutorial, and a regular wine show judge. Wadewitz was named Winemaker of the Year by The Wine Magazine in 2022.
Wadewitz is a partner with Martin Shaw, Michael Hill Smith MW, and David LeMire MW in MMAD Vineyard, an exciting single vineyard project located in Blewitt Springs, which is home to some of the oldest Chenin Blanc, Grenache and Shiraz vines in McLaren Vale.
Wadewitz has been Joint-CEO at Shaw + Smith since 2021.
