Tasting Australia presented by RAA Travel is one of the country’s longest running eating and drinking festivals – celebration and collaboration of people, produce and place lie at the heart of our existence. Each autumn we invite audiences to step beyond a standard food festival to discover deliciously different experiences that feed their curiosity.

Board a Tasting Australia Airlines flight to destinations you’ve always wanted to explore. Savour the magic that happens when local legends are joined by top chefs from around the world – moments impossible to recreate. Sip your way through a wine, beer or spirit masterclass, sampling South Australian gems alongside those from further afield. Head to the heart of Adelaide or enjoy a regional getaway.  

 

Tasting Australia is held in Adelaide and across South Australia. In 2023, Tasting Australia showcased its most diverse program yet with more than 160 events in 12 regions. The Tasting Australia festival hub, Town Square, is in Victoria Square/Tarntanyangga.

Tasting Australia is held annually every Autumn. In 2025 Tasting Australia takes place from 02–11 May.

Tasting Australia takes place over ten days and two weekends.

 

The festival began in 1997 as a biennial media-focused event and subsequently evolved to an annual consumer-driven celebration.

Festival Director Karena Armstrong shapes the diverse annual program alongside Food Curator Kane Pollard and Drinks Curators Meira Harel and Banjo Harris Plane. Simon Bryant, one of South Australia’s real food heroes – is patron.

All tickets purchased to Tasting Australia events are non-refundable and are not available for exchange to other Events or sessions unless otherwise specified within the terms and conditions.

Town Square FAQ's

Town Square is Tasting Australia’s eating and drinking mecca, located in Victoria Square/Tarntanyangga. Fun, free and perfect for families, Town Square is the place to meet for a drink, stay for a meal and explore. It buzzes with all of the energy of South Australia at its harvest peak, offering diverse bites from food vendors and beverages sure to impress.

Yes, entry to Town Square is free.

During Tasting Australia, Town Square is open from 11AM-9PM from Sunday – Thursday and 11AM-12AM on Friday & Saturday.

Town Square is open to all ages. However, anyone aged 16 years or younger must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times. For more information, please read the code of practice and code of practice guidelines.

The purchase and consumption of alcohol is restricted to over 18's. Identification may be requested and checked.
